the Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method is an educational system that stimulates your brain into creating more efficient relationships between your muscles, bones and the environment.

The method is named after its originator, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc. (1904-1984), a Russian born physicist, judo expert, mechanical engineer and educator. It is based on principles of physics, biomechanics and an empirical understanding of learning and human development.

Feldenkrais lessons encourage you to take charge of your own improvement and are offered in two ways, enabling you to discover which learning style is most appropriate for your personal needs.

In group Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lessons, the teacher verbally guides you through a sequence of gentle movements that help you develop a greater awareness of how you move.

In individual Functional Integration® lessons, the teacher uses touch and movement in addition to words to guide you in your individualized process of self-discovery.

Regardless of which learning style you choose, the Feldenkrais Method can help you overcome limitations brought on by misuse, illness, or the stress of everyday living.
